Feeling tired in the afternoon?  Not enough sleep last night?
Driving home or to the cottage with toothpicks holding open your eyes feeling like the Dwarf SLEEPY?

A recent study revealed that as a nation we are sleep deprived. If you are not getting at least 8-9 hours of sleep each night, you may be seeing signs of sleep depravation such as;

- periods of forgetfulness        - loss of patience           - agitation and stress              - bags under your eyes          - hair lose                      - dry, patchy skin
                 - and a tendency to put on extra pounds (who needs that!)

Sleep affects us metabolically since our body is repairing and recharging itself.
So try to get 7-8 hrs a night.

Ever wondered what those stickers on your fruit meant?
Organic, Normal or Genetically Modified!

Now this is what surprised me most of all.......  Those little stickers affixed to your pears and potatoes reveal a lot more than how much you'll pay. Read the article here.

Balancing Act

Like many of you, I enjoy a varied lifestyle with many projects on the go and as a result I often have a hectic schedule. A trip to nature can pull me back from the brink and I have realized over the years that I need to be mindful of how much my body and mind can handle. For example, I like to play the weekend warrior role of Gardening Maniac so I increase my massage frequency in May at the start of the gardening season I. My daughter swears she is a Gardening Orphan!

I schedule in little bit size pieces of time for myself along the way.
This works better than falling exhausted into my weekends and vacations!

Spent all winter in the house. Remember to gently stretch those tight sore muscles which may have tightened up over those months while you were busy doing other things. Flexibility is important to your bodys ability to move and time invested in stretching exercises will pay off. Additionally supplements like Glucosamine Complex and Omega 3s from deep ocean fish can help prevent soreness.  Find out more.

Get out there and take advantage of the great summer, put a break in your day.  Just walk around the block at lunch! You will benefit from the chance to clear your head and give your subconscious a chance to come up with additional solutions to those pressing issues. And do not worry about getting sun burnt, as you tour around town on a sunny day? Protect the back of your neck and arms with an SPF 8 Body Lotion without being sticky or smelling like you are at the beach. 400ml for $16.45

Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently  - Henry Ford

Choose to begin again. You will never change your life
until you change something you do daily.

You can make some great strategy decisions about your direction just by giving yourself time to sit quietly not even really thinking about anything consciously.  Recently I had the opportunity to sit in on a seminar The Keys to Developing Your Future lead by Winnie Lui Master Practitioner and Trainer of NLP, Hypnosis and Time Line Therapy. The seminar walked the participants through a process that allowed the sub-conscious to process all the questions and decisions we need to make about important areas of our life. We had the opportunity to allow the answers to rise to the surface.

Now that I'm back in my office with a tool to unblock my life and I feel energized and have more clarity. The art is to remember to keep those, calm, peaceful dock feelings at hand and develop the skill of bringing them back into your daily life when you need them. I can now use the techniques I learned from Winnie. Find out more about the seminar at www.mastertransformation.com

Home Office Time Saving Tips

We all have constant demands on our time at home and at work.

If you run your own business the lines can get blurred.  Sometimes it may feel like you are in a marathon with no end in sight.  Life is about the small moments, the moment you relax and enjoy the task at hand .. flow .. have you heard of it?  When you are in the moment and the next thing you know the time flies and the job gets done.

Learn to spend the majority of your time on those tasks that put you in flow and delegate or contract out the tasks that take you out of flow and zap your energy.  You know the ones .. the tasks you put off for every good reason you can think of! Try instead to delegate rather than procrastinate. Putting the task off is not a good replacement for saying no. Just think others can learn to do the tasks you delegate and they can grow by the experience.

Perhaps that filing can be done by a student looking to earn a bit of pocket money!!

This summer try a new path. Book self time into your calendar, just as you would book time to run errands and attend business meetings and personal events.  Just 15 minutes a day to maybe drink a coffee, while sitting in your car alone, with the radio off, can begin to build an inner peace and start a habit of stopping to really be in the moment to relax, have fun and re-discover who you are and what is important to you.  Because when you take a few moments to reconnect with yourself and calm your mind, you fill your internal reservoir.  Later that resource will be there to draw on when it comes time to be fully present for someone else.  Go ahead book that time, because you are important, not only to yourself, but to the people in your life.  Important enough to invest time in.

Home Office Tech Tips

How to prevent unwanted installation of Adware/Spyware.

Make sure the programs you install don't contain adware. Many freeware programs do include adware. It's how the publishers make their money. If you're not sure, read the license agreement carefully (these are usually shown directly or through links as part of the installation process). Also, check the publisher's Web site very carefully.

Install a pop-up blocker to prevent adware and spyware pop-up windows. Much spyware installs after you click a deceptive link in a pop-up browser window. Install a pop-up blocker, and you won't even be tempted to click those links. My two favorite pop-up blockers are completely free. The first is the new MSN Toolbar. The second is the Google Toolbar. Pop-up windows are annoying time wasters anyway, so you'll thank yourself later.

Don't unwittingly install adware or software. If you do click what seems like a "safe" link, and then you see the dialog box, don't click the Yes button to install the software. If in doubt, however, do not proceed. This dialog box is your last line of defense, and you should only install programs from the Internet that you chose to install. This is similar to giving someone your credit card number who calls you at home. It's a different story if you called them. Spyware scanners and some viru s scanners with spyware signatures can help combat spyware. However, the best strategy is to be discriminating about what you choose to download and install.
