Balancing Act


Last month, at the National Women In Business Expo, Toronto, I had the opportunity to sit in on several seminars.  Target Your Market/Message, presented by Mandie Crawford  of Roaring Women was one of them.  What I got form Mandie's talk was the need to focused on taking the time to clarify what problems your business solves and which clients may need your solution. Your marketing material, and what you say when you meet people everyday, must zero in on that problem and solution.  Mandie also spoke about visualizing your perfect client and your focus will invoke the Law of Attraction. 

Mandie mentioned a book Trends, by best selling author Tom Peters' and co-written with Martha Barletta, a leading authority on strategies for marketing to women.  Trends is one book in a series of smaller books, adapted from Tom's book Re-Imagine. It is well worth reading! Martha, author of Marketing to Women, will be publishing a new book soon called Prime Time Women. I for one will be in line to read it.

Tech Tip for Your Home Office

Q: My computer seems to have slowed down lately.  Why might that be? A: Have you cleared your cache memory recently? What is that you may ask?

The internet browser on your computer holds a memory, in the cache memory, of every internet site you have visited.  These memories are also called “cookies” and the website leaves them behind on your computer after you have visited.  These cookies let your computer remember the website so when you visit again it doesn't take as long for the website to appear on your screen. 

Q: How do I clear the internet browser's cache on my computer? What can I do?

PC Instructions for Internet Explorer Users with version 5.01 or higher:
1. Select "Tools" from the pull-down menu.
2. Select "Internet Options".
3. In the second section where it says "Temporary Internet Files", click on the 'Delete Files' button, check (place a check mark) the option for "Delete all offline content", then click "OK".
4. When clearing is complete (hourglass returns to mouse pointer), click "OK".
